WELCOME

This is the Sunshine State Rhodesian Ridgeback Club's second quarter newsletter.

We have had a lot going on!

First, we welcome new members, Faye Walshaw-Vaughan and Linda Fishkind.  Welcome to the club!

Next, we held 2 AKC events this quarter - the Coursing mentored event and the A match.  The mentored event came after a year of work that some members have put forth to get SSRRC licensed to hold AKC coursing events.  This has been accomplished.  We got the news on May 6, 2013 that we were ready to go and could start holding AKC lure coursing events.

NEW CHAMPIONS

Ch TuckerRidge Bold and Spicy at Regal finished her championship with a 4 point major at the Elkton, FL shows.  Way to go Pepper!

CH. JafariRidge Ghost and the Darkness of Spring Valley - Tsavo - finished at 11 months old at the Zolfo Springs show.  Owned and loved by Manny and Linda Guanaurd.

NEW DUAL CHAMPIONS

A NEW DUAL CHAMPION

On a sloggy field during a steady rain, Bindi became a dual champion at the AKC mentored event in High Springs, FL.  Not only is she a Conformation Grand Champion, she is now a Field champion.  She is now GCH DC Regal Tolerton's Luminara Unduli for Bindura, SC, Fch.

NEW GRAND CHAMPIONS

At the Brooksville show in May, on Saturday, CH Rolling's Mozart by Spring Valley at Ridgehill, SC, CGC   "Mozart" got his last 2 points to finally qualify for his Grand Championship.  This is especially meaningful since his mother (Carol Smith) thought he got it in Elkton because she miscounted!!

AKC MENTORED COURSING EVENT

On a rainy day up in High Springs, SSRRC began its 2 day AKC Coursing mentored event.  We had 45 entries on Saturday and 40 on Sunday and great food both days.  In the end, SSRRC became licensed to hold AKC Lure Coursing events.  It took a lot of hard work and dedication by the members and the non-members that did the work and showed up to the events.
